		<description>Hey, thanks for the pictures and description.  I have a very well maintained and pampered Land Rover from its original owner.  I freaked when my drain plug looked just like yours with metal shards packed all over it.  Turns out, that this is a known problem on this gearbox.  ATF is not the best lubricant but is required for the synchromesh shifting to work.  Another site recommends using synthetic gear oil instead.  I am in Africa and doubt I&#039;ll be able to find any synthetic oil, so I guess I&#039;ll have to live with the knowledge that my gearbox is destroying itself slowly...

Anyway, seeing your drain plug was a great comfort.  Maybe it isn&#039;t the end of the world.</description>
